Reach is right around the corner, I’m so excited! This will be my 6th Reach and every Reach is different. I cannot wait to participate in every activity. The first day is amazing. During challenge day you meet so many new people and learn that everyone is not as different form each other as you think. Not only do you get to bond with others, but you get to share your experiences and let out all that hurt, pain, and even joy and happiness that you feel. It feels so good to share!! Just when you think it can't get any better the second day, it does. You get to listen to a professional inspirational speaker who is always awesome, and then you get to participate in workshops. What is really interesting about the workshops is that there are so many topics to chose and learn from. You can learn about yourself, hope, diversity, and even ways that you can help your community. After a long but fun day there is a talent show, and a dance. At the talent show everyone gets the opportunity to shine no matter what their talent is. Right after that everyone gets their groove on at the dance. It’s a fun way to cut loose after a long couple days. After the dance everyone is so tired and is ready for bed, we all go to bed in anticipation for the following day which is the ropes course. The ropes course gives you and your school team an opportunity to bond with one another. You can really see how much of a support team you have and they are with you all the time. This ropes course gives you a great opportunity to recognize all that you can do. I have seen people overcome their fear of heights, learn to trust and find true joy again. If you do not take full advantage of all the opportunities that Reach has to offer you would be missing out. Every individual that attends Reach gets the opportunity to make new friends, learn new things, and become a better rounded person. This is an event that continues to change my life and others around me, without it I would not be the person I am today. I truly believe that everyone that comes gains something from this conference.
A memorable experience has the capability to be a life changing experience. Some say that only happens once in a lifetime I say it has the ability to happen once a year at Reach for the Future. I remember the first time I attended Reach; I challenged my self emotionally and physically… I also remember having the best time of my life. I met people there that I am still friends with, I strengthen friendships with my classmates that I still talk to and have a great relationship with. What is so magical about the conference is you are able to be yourself for three whole days. Some people discover who they are in those three days and some just feel the freedom of judgment to show their true colors. There is nothing like Reach, it is one of the most positive life changing experiences I have ever encountered and I love that I get to see that for young people every year. What is a positive life changing experience you have had, and how was it life changing for you?
