Friday Night Live is a youth led action group that meets weekly on high school campuses or on community based sites. FNL builds leadership skills, broadens young peoples social network, implements strategies to reduce youth access to alcohol and supports young people through life challenges and situations.
Our meetings are every Thursday during lunch! First lunch meets in S-6 and second lunch meets in O-5. Everyone is welcome!
Officer meetings take place in the library every Thursday at 3pm.

So one of the goals of FNL is to reduce underage drinking and we do this by educating parents on underage drinking norms in Butte County. Our goal is to reach 190 parents and have 130 parents sign a pledge saying that they will not provide alcohol to underage youth or allow underage drinking in their homes. These are our stats for the year so far:

Total parents reached: 40/190

2/2/12 Yesterday kicked off the first day of our Website Challenge!! To all of you that know what this is, thank you for checking it out! The way this website challenge is going to work is everytime you view our PV FNL page on this website (http://www.butteyouthnow.org/friday-night-live/pleasant-valley/) we get a point! And every time you comment on this or any of the other blogs we post, we get another point! And the big kicker is any time a parent or another community member comments on this blog, we get FIVE points!!! I know that PV can win this challenge, but we are going to need all your help in making it happen, so spread the word. Secondly, our School Climate project is going great! After deciding on the theme "New Beginnings" for January, we sent all of our members out to take pictures of people who had written their "new beginning" on their hand. We had an amazing amount come in, and put them onto a giant collage that is now hanging outside…... READ MORE...
FNL is very excited about this year's School Climate Project, titled "Breaking the Status Quo"! For the month of January we chose the value "New Beginnings" and asked students to write their "new beginnings" on their hand and let us take a picture, which we then turned into a giant collage!! If you are interested in helping out with future events, make sure to check out a meeting. First lunch is in S-6 and second is in O-5. February's project has been planned and all help would be appreciated in implementing it! Next on the agenda is incorporating Friends of Rachel, the student club that came out of Rachel's Challenge, into our projects and goals, and we look forward to the partnership.
Breaking the Status Quo!
December - HOPE - For the month of December students chose "hope" as the value for the month. During lunch, students were invited to write down their hopes on a bookmark and hang them on a donated Christmas tree in the center of the Senior Quad on PV's campus.
January - NEW BEGINNINGS - Our January project involved having students write their "new beginning" on their hand and letting us take a photo of it. These "new beginnings" could be a New Year's Resolution, a future dream, or something that the student would go back and change in their life if they could. Once we had all the photos, we put them together into a large collage that is posted outside of the Counseling Office on campus!
